Nicholas Petricca from WALK THE MOON reinvents Coldplay’s “The Scientist” for the Alzheimer’s Association Music Moments project. In this behind-the-scenes video, Petricca shares his personal connection to the song and his thoughts on the power of music to connect us to life’s most important moments.
“There’s something really deeply powerful with music…that reaches deep inside a person to something that never goes away.”
Nicholas Petricca is the frontman and founding member of WALK THE MOON, multi-platinum rock band best known for their global hit song “Shut Up And Dance.” Alongside WALK THE MOON’s ecstatic, uplifting breed of rock ’n’ roll and ferocious live shows, Petricca creates musical bridges as a songwriter and producer, integrating soulful vocals and musicality throughout his collaborations with other artists.
Petricca chose “The Scientist” for Music Moments because music was such a powerful connection point in his relationship with his father, who died of Alzheimer’s. They loved discovering new music together and attending concerts, including Coldplay’s concerts. “[The song] has a really beautiful way of articulating a very universal, human feeling with such simplicity.”
