Nile Rodgers reinvents “Hey Jude” for the Alzheimer Association “Music Moments” album. In this behind-the-scenes video, Rodgers shares his personal connection to the song and his thoughts on the power of music to connect us to life’s most important moments.

Nile Rodgers says he was destined to become a musician. As a prolific guitarist, singer-songwriter, producer, composer, multiple Grammy Award-winner, inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the co-founder of CHIC — Rodgers has deeply influenced the music industry for decades.
Alzheimer’s disease has impacted multiple members of Rodgers’ family, including his aunt and mother. Through it all, music has had the power to connect. “Every time we went to visit [my aunt],” he says, “we’d sing “Hey Jude” and she would sing every lyric with us,” even the ad-lib. It’s heartbreaking to see his mom living with the disease, he says, but they’re taking each day moment by moment — and having a “great, great, great time” along the way.
