Lower novelty-related locus coeruleus function is associated with Aβ-related cognitive decline in clinically healthy individuals

One hundred twenty-eight individuals from HABS18 were included in the present study (57 M/71 F; median age at baseline = 69.62, interquartile range (IQR): 63.69–76.81 years; median years of education at baseline = 16, IQR: 14–18 years; Table 1). HABS is an ongoing longitudinal observational study of cognitively unimpaired individuals aimed to further our understanding of normative aging and preclinical AD. All participants underwent baseline task-fMRI and PiB-PET imaging (within one year of the MRI scan), and annual cognitive assessments (followed up for up to 10 years; median (years) = 4.25, IQR: 2.07–8.26 years).
